Amway Floating Children’s Home, launched by Liaoning Provincial Women’s Federation and Amway (China)’s Liaoning branch, has been launched in Xinzhaizi Central Primary School in Gangjinzi District, Dalian, Liaoning.Altogether 15 Amway Floating Children’s Homes will be built in the 14 schools that have the most floating children (children with no fixed abode e.g. the children of migrant workers) in the 14 municipalities of Liaoning Province, with two in Dalian. Amway’s Liaoning branch will donate more than CNY100,000 for computers, TV sets, DVDs, tables, chairs, books, and other supplies.
The program is expected to improve the education and the living environment of the floating children.
Statistics show that the province now has 143,000 floating children in schools that are facing various difficulties and problems in their education, psychology and life. In June 2008, China Children and Teenagers’ Fund and Amway China launched the “Sunshine Program” caring for floating children.

According to the National Statistics Office (NSO), regions in Mindanao ranked lowest in functional literacy last year, with an average of 70 percent.
Dropout rate shot up to as high as 7.3 percent, another NSO data said.
To help address the problem, Amway Philippines, a global direct-selling company, has adopted the South City Central School for its “One by One Campaign for Children,” a project aimed at improving the reading ability of children in public schools.
Amway helped renovate the school library, where a well-lit and inviting storytelling corner was put up. After months of waiting, the refurbished library formally opened on Oct. 19, to the delight of eager children, parents and teachers.
